Everyone has dreams but not everyone is aware that they posses the power, knowledge and ability to make their dreams a reality. The lack of belief in oneself and importance of their dreams often hinders many. Mothers give so much to others and often forget themselves and their dreams! With many external pressures and demands to put everyone else and their dreams first.

But Dear Mother, your dreams matter too and as Marianne Williamson wisely said, " as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." Here are 5 tips on how you can make your dreams a reality:

1. Define Your dream

Getting clear on what your dream is, is one of the first key steps to making your dream a reality. Spend time thinking about your dream(s), What are they. Make a list of them and then start focusing on each one and really get to understand what each dream is. For example if your dream is to be rich, get specific, how rich do you want to be? have a figure in mind

2. Do what you love

Many times we have dreams but they are not our own, they are other peoples dreams for us. The best way to test a dreams owner is this very simple question, is this dream something I am passionate about?

Doing what you love will change the way you look and feel about life. "To be able to get out of bed and do what you love for the rest of the day is beyond words."- John Schroede.

3. Create an action plan & start!

What do you need to do to get where you want to be? What actions must you take? Sometimes there is more than one road to get to a destination. Brainstorm a number of ideas for getting you there, actions you can take to move yourself closer to your dream. Then put together an action plan. Even if your not 100% sure about your dream take the first step, the key is to get started.

As Mark Twain profoundly stated "The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one." Which leads me to the next point;

4. Set aside time each day

Set aside thirty minutes each day to work towards your dream. If you can do more great but a step at a time is all it takes. Make a habit of working on your goals daily and you will make progress and your dreams will begin to come to life! The key is keeping your dreams present, reminding yourself daily this is what I want to achieve and working towards it!

5. Enjoy the journey

The process of fulfilling your dreams should be an adventure. There will be obstacles, but you can still have fun along the way. The achievement of your dreams can last but for a moment, while the journey to achieving your dreams can be rather lengthy. Enjoy the journey and every step you take. Do not wait till you have achieved your dreams to congratulate yourself and be proud of the progress you have made. Be Proud of you now, as the joy of a dream often lies in the journey to its achievement.

So go on Dear Mother and make your dreams come true!

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."- Harriet Tubman
